Day One (and a half)

After a safe drive here to Brigantine, NJ, we had a late orientation last evening after arrival.  This AM, woke up early, walking to the beach, gave thanks to God for His Creation!  What beautiful sunrise!  We started the day with a reading of Genesis 12 (1-7), the story about Abram and Sarai where they had to pack up and begin anew, giving up on their own comfort zones.  One of the questions posed this AM was-what if we were coming to Brigantine "permanently".  What would we do different?  Would we take longer to say "goodbye" to our loved ones?  Would we pack more stuff?  Prepare for a new job?  Another questions posed was -are you a "doer" or a "sitter-backer"?  Which one would you be?  How you you react if God "calls" you to a different area?  (Out of your comfort zone)?  As we prepare for this week, one might be asking how we can be a blessing this week.  What can you do in your life to be a blessing?  How will you (we) touch others and show them by our love-that we are Christians?!  What has God already provided?  What has God called you to do?  What will you do for His kingdom?  How can you be a blessing today?  Please continue to pray for us as we begin the journey this week!  There is another group here from Crafton Heights.  They had a "fender bender" on the way down here.  No one was hurt.  Again, keep us all in prayer this week as we assist victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Keep those folks in prayer as well.  Thank you!  Will touch base later today to let you know of further "happenings".  This week's mission has JUST begun!
